According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, there is no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke.  Non-smokers who breathe in secondhand smoke take in nicotine and other toxic chemicals just like smokers do.

Exposure to secondhand smoke is a health hazard. Secondhand smoke contains more than 7,000 chemicals, including 69 dangerous cancer-causing substances like formaldehyde and arsenic. Breathing 30 minutes of secondhand smoke has the same effect as smoking a cigarette.

St. Louisans are proud people. We take pride our professional sports teams yet we are one of the last professional sports cities to allow smoking indoors. 73% of St. Louis County residents support stepping outside to smoke and 66% of St. Louis City residents support the same measure.

Join the majority of St. Louisans in supporting stepping outside to smoke.

Everyone has the right to breathe smoke-free air.
Stepping outside to smoke is simple.
